Silver Circle of West Iceland

The Silver Circle of West Iceland is a good choice for those who want less crowded attractions but still experience the amazing Icelandic nature. On this daytour we will visit Deildartunguhver, the most powerful hot spring in all Europe with all his steam and hissing noise.

Hraunfossar or the Lava waterfalls are so unique you can’t even try to descripe them – except with the big WOW people say when entering the best viewpoint.  Just around the corner we have Barnafossar – the childrens waterfalls with a sad folkstorie from the past.

If you havent played with a icelandic goat it’s about time because we will visit one of very few goat farms in Iceland experiencing this very friendly and playful animals.

And before we head back to Reykjavík we are stopping at the historic place of Reykholt where Snorri Sturluson once lived – and died.

To visit the Krauma hot spring is a option on this tour.

Trip Highlights

Overview

The Silver Circle of West Iceland is a hidden gem with the amazing Hraunfossar waterfalls as the trip highlight.

After pickup in the Reykjavík capital area we drive to West Iceland with a comfort stop on the way. Our first stop will be Deildartunguhver, the most powerful hot spring in all Europe producing hot water for the central heating system for almost all West Iceland.

Reykholt historic place lies only few minutes drive away. This was the home of the viking chieftain, writer and priest Snorri Sturluson who lived here and died in 1241 – killed by orders from the Norwegian king.

Hraunfossar or the lava waterfalls are just plain and simple – very unique – even here in Iceland where we have a lot of waterfalls. Only 2 minutes walk away is Barnafossar – the childrens waterfall but the name comes from a old folktale.

Everybody who visit Iceland know about our sheep – less people have heard about goats – imported like the sheep with our first settlers but almost came extinct but with hard work from Johanna goat farmer at Háafell who saved the species. They love to play – don’t you ?

On our way back to Reykjavik passengers have option (have to be booked in advance over summer and holidays) to visit Krauma geothermal baths and spa – powered with geothermal water from Deildartunguhver.
