Reykjanes peninsula is very close to Reykjavík but still so very different and even more different from other popular daytours like the Golden Circle and the South Coast. The volcanic and geothermal activity has shaped a landscape that reminds you of the moon – if you have ever been there that is?
Seltún or Krýsuvík geothermal area with all the colors and the hissing sound that constantly reminds you of the power hidden below. Short drive from there the very black and new lavafield from Fagradalsfjall mountain / Geldingadalir eruption in 2021, 2022 and 2023.
If there is a typical fishing village in Iceland, Grindavík would be the winner. Almost everything here is about fish as you will see while we drive through on our way to Brimketill lava pool where according to a folkstorie trolls use to take a bath. From trolls to ghosts since our next stop is Gunnuhver hot spring where Gunna is stuck for eternity.
Bridge between the continents is a bridge which will let you “cross” from Europe to America in seconds – and not passport control. Here you will understand why Iceland is so very active in terms of volcanic and geothermal activity.
Eldvörp crater row said to remind many of Lakagígar in the highland of Iceland and not without a reason – erupted around 800 years ago and still geothermal activity around. Why not use to to cook a iceland hot dog before we head back to Reykjavik?
This is Iceland so we always recommend that you bring extra layer of clothing, rain jacket, hat and gloves. Hiking paths on this tour are very good so lighter hiking booths are fine – even good sneakers or off trail running shoes.
In winter some spots can be slippery or icy so we provide crampons that will fit on any shoes.
All the vehicles we use are new and in excellent condition like LandRover Defender or Toyota Proace Luxury.
Our guides are local with load of experience on Icelandic roads.
No meals are included on this tour.
Lunch stop will be in the village of Grindavík where we have several options to choose from.
Safety is our thing – the headguide has been a professional Search & Rescue member for 12 years and a volunteer for more than 35 years leading more icelandic projects than anyone in safety in tourism.
We keep our guides well trained and our passengers safe – there is no other option.
